Sri Lanka’s Mirissa Beach and Bentota Beach have earned spots among Asia’s most celebrated coastal destinations, according to the 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches list released by Tripadvisor.
Mirissa Beach claimed fifth place, while Bentota Beach was ranked seventh. The “Best of the Best” distinction is awarded to less than 1% of Tripadvisor’s listings and recognises destinations that consistently receive outstanding reviews from travellers over a 12-month period.
Mirissa Beach, on the island’s southern coast, is renowned for its golden sands, calm swimming areas, surfing at the famous “Mirissa Right” break, and lively evening atmosphere with seafood restaurants and sunset views from Coconut Tree Hill.
Bentota Beach, located on the southwest coast, is celebrated for water sports including jet skiing and kitesurfing, as well as its soft sands and scenic sunsets, making it ideal for sunbathing and leisurely walks.
This year’s top-ranked beach in Asia was Banana Beach in Phuket, Thailand. Other beaches in the top ten include Kelingking Beach in Indonesia, Radhanagar Beach in India, and White Beach in the Philippines.
The recognition further cements Sri Lanka’s position as a leading destination for beach tourism in Asia.
